About the role
We are looking for a Rating Systems Programmer-Analyst for our Actuarial - Personal Lines Systems department, who will play a key role in supporting our growth.
As a supervised member of the team, you will be responsible for programming, modifying and debugging algorithms related to pricing and underwriting, as requested and within specified timeframes. You must also be able to evaluate the potential impacts of these modifications. This person will report directly to the Actuarial Manager – Strategic Initiatives & Risk Control.
What you'll do here :
Analyze, develop and maintain pricing system in accordance with the project requirements by utilizing appropriate software and programming skills. The process encompasses programming, testing, debugging and documenting the modifications made.
Engage in every phase of the project to guarantee its successful completion by working closely with users, providing guidance, adhering to deadlines, and communicating status updates.
Ensure that systems are optimal and comply with business standards by providing analyses, recommendations and assessments.
Make recommendations to take part in the improvement of system development and maintenance processes.
Apply appropriate programming techniques to ensure data is accurate and valid and to facilitate maintenance for future changes and improvements so that resources are used appropriately.
Work in conjunction with Actuarial, BA, QAA, IT and Corporate UW.
Be responsible for projects or parts of projects.
What you bring to the table :
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science / Actuarial Science / Mathematics or related field.
Relevant system programming experience, an asset.
Knowledge of the P&C insurance industry, an asset.
Knowledge of Pega Systems, an asset.
Knowledge of Excel and VBA, an asset.
Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong organizational skills.
Integrity.
No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.
