Job description

Our client, an employee-owned national Investment firm headquartered in beautiful Vancouver, BC managing over $25 billion in assets on behalf of pension, foundation, corporate, Aboriginal, and individual clients across Canada. They are currently seeking a talented onsite Business Analyst to join their team.

Role Overview :

As a Business Analyst, you will provide application solutions and support for internal clients through requirements gathering, systems analyses, design, and delivery to improve client and employee experiences. You will manage an application landscape that includes Trade Order Management systems, pricing, portfolio management, and reporting systems. Your responsibilities will also include internal client support escalations, feedback, change request management processes, and the development of change requests, enhancements, and new functionalities.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Operating Model Management : Streamline and manage the operating model of the portfolio management system concerning daily, quarterly, and annual tasks, ad hoc requests, and issues.
  • Requirements Documentation : Ensure that functional requirements are understood, documented, and correctly considered in the implementation.
  • Product Documentation : Create and maintain product documentation for firm support.
  • JIRA Management : Capture epics and user stories within JIRA.
  • Business Request Analysis : Analyze new business requests and support the team’s effort estimation.
  • Analyses : Conduct both business and technical analyses.
  • Testing Support : Support testing activities and advise business stakeholders on relevant issues.
  • Knowledge Management : Manage product, vendor, and business knowledge for key portfolio management systems.

Qualifications :

  • Experience : 8+ years in a similar role (business analysis, business engineering, requirements engineering) in the financial industry.
  • Expertise : In-depth knowledge of finance, financial products, Canadian regulatory frameworks, portfolio management, and advisory processes. Experience with mutual funds processes is a significant advantage.
  • Software Development : Understanding of software development processes, with preferable experience as a developer.
  • UML Proficiency : Hands-on experience with UML and the ability to model domain models or visualize dynamic flows. Familiarity with Enterprise Architecture is ideal.
  • SQL Skills : Practical SQL skills for conducting data analysis when required.
  • Portfolio Theory : Understanding of portfolio theory and portfolio management processes.
  • Business Analysis Tools : A comprehensive tool-belt of business analysis tools with the knowledge of when to use each tool (use case modeling, business rule writing, user story writing, state diagrams, flow diagrams, etc.).
  • System Proficiency : Experience with APX (SS&C), LatentZero (IoN or Fidessa), and pricing systems.
