FYidoctors - Smithers - has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Optometrist to join our team. This is a fantastic flexible opportunity with scope for a full time OD 4 or 5 days each week. We also have the ability to set up the OD's schedule for a 3 weeks on, 1 week off rotation so the incoming OD can have flexibility to fly in/fly out to Smithers if desired. We can also accommodate a traditional full time schedule if desired. This is an extremely exciting, lucrative and rewarding opportunity for an Optometrist to work in a collaborative and established clinic with a strong and loyal patient base.

Our clinic in Smithers has a strong history in the community over the past two decades, and joined FYidoctors in 2014. One of our optometrists, Dr. Barry Lester, has been with the practice for over 20 years. Our decades serving these communities has allowed us to gain a large and loyal patient customer base. Our patient base has a wide variety in demographics with patients of all ages coming to our clinic. This allows for a variety in our work as we get to see and treat patients in different stages of life!
Our clinic in Smithers includes 4 functional exam lanes. The clinic is well-equipped with the latest diagnostic technology and have passionate and knowledgeable staff that are able to provide support across pretesting and dispensing for our OD's. Our practice also has a strong relationship with First Nations communities in the region, and we are proud to provide an outreach service to patients who are unable to come to our clinic - bringing our equipment and medical expertise to serve the public.

Smithers is located in the Bulkley Valley of BC, and has a surrounding population of approximately 15,000. Surrounded by majestic forests and beautiful nature, Smithers offers a wide variety of outdoor activities from hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, and canoeing. For the winter months, the incredible trails surrounding Smithers offer fantastic snowshoeing opportunities with picturesque scenery. Hudson Bay Mountain is situated just a few minutes from the townsite, offering stunning opportunities to participate along trails on the mountain.
