Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to establish a pool of qualified candidates to be used to staff future term positions in Dartmouth Nova Scotia and Bible Hill Nova Scotia.

Should a CM be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to another category for the member.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION :

Graduation with a degree* from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in economics, sociology or statistics.

Degree : A minimum of a baccalaureate, as established by educational authorities.

Recognized Post-Secondary Institution : Public or private institution that has been given authority to grant degrees, diplomas, and other credentials by a public or private act of a provincial / territorial legislature or through a government-mandated quality assurance mechanism. For greater certainty,

also included are institutions authorized to grant specific academic credentials for specific academic programs.

Candidates must always have a degree. The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and may have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization.

The specialization may also be obtained through an acceptable combination of education, training and / or experience.

EXPERIENCE

E1. Experience conducting research, analyzing, and writing reports.

E2. Experience in applying analytical techniques or qualitative / quantitative methodology within a research project.

E3. Experience in producing and presenting material (in at least one of the following : reports, presentations or project findings) to decision-makers.

Conditions of employment

Top Secret security clearance - The successful applicant will have to obtain, as a minimum, an RCMP Top Secret. The process requires a Security / Reliability Interview, a field investigation in matters of Criminal Activities, credit / finances, education, employment, references, etc.

NOTE : Successful candidates will require a valid RCMP security clearance prior to appointment and throughout the tenure of their employment.

The process to obtain RCMP security clearance involves a security / reliability interview and a field investigation regarding matters of criminal activity which includes reference checks, verification of credit / financial status, education, employment, etc.

As such, the process may take several weeks or months to complete. To be granted RCMP security clearance and to maintain the ethical standards of the RCMP, candidates must not be, or have been, involved in

certain criminal activities*, have been dishonourably discharged, have pending personal bankruptcies, etc.

Possession of a valid driver's license or mobility normally associated with possession of a valid driver’s license.

Must be willing and able to work in a busy police environment, including exposure to unsettling and / or graphic material

Must be willing and able to work extended overtime hours sometimes on short notice.

Must be willing and able to travel domestically / internationally to attend training / work away from home, as necessary

Must be willing and able to testify in court

Must be willing and able to participate in the Intelligence Analyst Understudy Training Program
