Summary :

FET Variperm is class leading in service and supply, specializing in sand control engineering, completion and work-over tools and cased hole fishing services. Our very name derives from the concept of Variable Permeability – the ability to change permeability to control results. And that’s what we do : our customized sand control solutions allow us to respond quickly to the ever-changing variability of our customers’ vertical and horizontal well operations.

This position is responsible for the welding and fabrication of parts and products to specifications identified in job order documentation. This position is a nightshift position however, may involve various shifts / days as well as, and overtime hours depending on the scope of work and plant activity. In this role, the candidate must be a registered Journeyman in the trade of Welding and working towards obtaining their Journeyman Certificate. Special projects and other duties as assigned.

Job Duties / Responsibilities :

• Perform production welding in accordance with Variperm Weld Procedure Specifications (WPS), including post weld heat treatment.
• Operate semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse various types of steel using GMAW process, GMAW - pulse (2FR).
• Reading and understanding blueprints and drawings.
• Take and / or read measurements to plan layout.
• Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements.
• Set up components for welding according to specifications.
• Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded.
• Align components using calipers, rulers etc. and clamp pieces.
• Directing and providing instructions to labourers and apprentices as needed.
• Ensuring proper use and care of equipment.
• Ensuring all welding equipment is in proper working order and maintained.
• Maintain and adhere to housekeeping practices to ensure work areas are clean and safe.
• Assist in other plant operations as needed.
• Adhere to all company policies and procedures including HSE and Quality.
• Active participation in FET’s Health, Safety and Environment program including training and safety meetings as required.
• Perform quality control inspections as necessary.
• The ability to lift to 45lbs independently.
• Other duties as required.
