The Opportunity

The Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) is recruiting a Summer Student to join the talented team at the Alberta Geologic Survey (AGS). At the AGS we are accountable for the delivery of geological and regulatory data. The Regulatory Data Delivery team is dedicated to disseminating data externally to a diverse group of stakeholders.

As a Student Report & Dissemination Analyst you manage confidential data and support information sharing. You will collaborate with senior staff on gathering requirements and prepare AER data products using FME SQL Studio and Microsoft 365. The final output will be publicly accessible via AER Products & Services Catalogue.

The position offers practical experience with oil and gas data emphasizing lifecycle processes and effective data management. Under the guidance from senior team members you will have the opportunity to learn or enhance your technical data analysis capabilities. Additionally this role allows for development of essential business acumen and professional coduct within an office enviornment.

What your day-to-day will look like :

Monitor confidentiality status using Microsoft 365 and SQL Server Management Studio.

Learn and apply FME Workbench and SQL query writing.

Collaborate with senior team members and business subject-matter experts to develop emerging and relevant data products.

Gather requirements through engagement and investigation.

What were looking for in you :

Currently enrolled in a Bachelors program in Business Administration Information Systems or a related field.

Experience with SQL FME Tableau and Microsoft 365 is an asset.

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a professional manner.

Exhibit a continuous improvement mindset.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Additional Information :

Proof of enrollment in a registered institution including enrollment in the semester following the work term or enrollment in a registered co-op program will be a condition of hire.
