Role Overview :

Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) provide a range of services to support students with speech, language and communication needs within the educational setting. Working with teachers, other professionals, parents, and students, SLPs enhance and adapt programming to enhance learning opportunities and success for students.

What you will do :

• Work primarily within a classroom environment to support the Response to Intervention framework focused on developing, implementing, and monitoring interventions and strategies that meet the communication, social, emotional, behavioural, and learning needs of students.
• Provide timely diagnostic, intervention, and consultation services for communication disorders.
• Communicate effectively with students and families, to connect them with community service providers as part of an intervention plan.
• Maintain up-to-date assessments and intervention records.
• Build the capacity of teachers and administrators using a variety of proactive, innovative and effective professional development delivery techniques, including in-class modelling, collegial mentoring and coaching, professional reference materials and presenting at professional learning events at the school and system levels related to topics including language and communication strategies.
• Build the capacity of school-based staff using a variety of professional development approaches, including in-class modelling, collegial mentoring and coaching, professional reference materials and presenting at professional learning events.
• Perform other duties as may be required or assigned by the Student Services Coordinator.
