ACADEMIC POSITION : Thoracic Radiologist with Oncology Interest

The Department of Medical Imaging, Division of Diagnostic Radiology, Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, at Western University, London Health Sciences Centre and St. Joseph’s Health Care London is seeking a Thoracic Radiologist for a full-time clinical academic appointment to Western University. Rank (Assistant, Associate or Full Professor) and appointment status (limited term or continuing) will be determined by experience and qualifications at the time of appointment.

There are opportunities for an enthusiastic radiologist to contribute to an integrated, multi- disciplinary and collegial Academic Medical Imaging Department in the Cardiothoracic Division.

Position Profile : The successful candidate will be appointed in a full-time Clinical Academic appointment in the Department of Medical Imaging at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry. The successful candidate will take an active role in the Citywide Cardiothoracic Imaging Subspecialty Division and must be dedicated to outstanding quality in clinical operations, demonstrate leadership, teaching and / or research abilities. The successful candidate will have completed a Fellowship in Thoracic or Cardiothoracic Radiology, must have an interest in academic radiology and will need to be committed to outstanding quality in clinical operations, including patient care, teaching and research collaborations.

The successful candidate will have an interest in Thoracic Oncology and be able to perform the appropriate diagnostic and interventional procedures. The candidate will have access to a dedicated interventional computed tomography unit (80-row), nursing support and short stay beds. For interested candidates, the work schedule will include dedicated time for body imaging and image-guided intervention. The academic component of this position is predominately located at LHSC – Victoria Hospital and the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry. One day of protected academic time to support research and teaching is provided. Consideration of applicants will include an assessment of previous performance in teaching, research, health care leadership, qualifications (including subspecialty and enhanced training), experience and interpersonal skills.

Cardiothoracic Imaging : Division Head – Dr. Justin Amann ()

The successful candidate will join a division of 11 dedicated Cardiothoracic radiologists. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate successful team building skills in addition to the advanced diagnostic and interventional skills required for this position. There are excellent established collaborations across all affiliated Cardiothoracic disciplines with frequent participation in multi-disciplinary rounds and a full complement of diagnostic and interventional procedures.

Infrastructure : City wide fleet state-of-the-art Computed Tomography (six Aquilion ONE 320 Genesis Edition, and one Aquilion Prime), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (two 3T, four 1.5T, and one 0.55T) and interventional angiography suites (three biplane and four single plane units) in combination with strong Industry-Academic partnerships strengthen the academic mission.

Qualifications : The successful candidate will hold certification in Diagnostic Radiology with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or international equivalent and will need to meet the current credentialing requirements of LHSC and St. Joseph’s. Candidates must have an MD, or equivalent, and must be eligible for licensure in the province of Ontario. Subspecialty Fellowship training in Cardiothoracic or Thoracic imaging is required. Additional sub-specialty expertise in paediatric or abdominal imaging will be a distinct advantage. Proficiency in CT guided lung biopsies is required. The successful candidate will be a self-starter, team player and be willing to participate in all aspects of academic imaging and intervention including on-call duties as required by the Chair / Chief of the Department.
