Overview

Network Optimization Engineer

Full-time

GTA – GVA – GMA - CGA

The Network Optimization Engineer leads the design and optimization of the Day & Ross network. Designing, optimizing and planning the network involves understanding the current processes and its constraints, developing and deploying effective solutions for transportation cost reduction while improving service metrics and the customer experience.

How You’ll Help

  • Review current network and maximize efficiency in terms of transportation cost and service.
  • Create facility replacement and / or expansion business cases to address capacity, network, and maintenance of business or regulatory concerns.
  • Partner with linehaul management, planners, fleet specialists and operations in each terminal to design and implement a network that enables Day & Ross’s current and future targets for growth and profitability.
  • Act as an expert and process owner, to the organization, in the subject of terminal operations, network design and optimization.
  • Develop KPI’s, regular reports and information systems that track and measure network performance.
  • Develop a multi-year roadmap of improvement initiatives employing a phased approach of deployment and return on investment.

Your Skills & Experience :

  • University Degree, preferably in Engineering
  • 2-3 years transportation experience, (network optimization / Engineering an asset)
  • Must be able to execute all phases of project and initiative management – problem definition, concept, responses, prioritization, planning, deployment, and performance monitoring
  • A strong leader :
  • Able to analyze and solve complex problems

  • Able to seek input from all levels and disciplines of the organization
  • Able to negotiate and influence decision making
  • Experienced in mentoring, coaching and developing team members
  • Experienced in driving positive change management
  • Possess a high degree of drive and emotional intelligence demonstrating tact, courtesy and diplomacy
  • Must possess a good understanding of quality, safety, technical and engineering principles
  • Able to create a foundation in which people are free to express their concerns, bring forth projects and plans, expand options for action for a new future
  • Highly literate with computer skills and software packages. In-depth knowledge of all Microsoft Office tools, databases, dashboards, optimization & simulation software and AutoCAD
