What you'll do
The Advisor, Corporate Communications, is responsible for supporting the day-to-day execution of strategic communications activities, such as issues management, materials development, media monitoring and reporting. Working in a fast-paced environment on multiple simultaneous initiatives, the Corporate Communications Advisor must possess experience in media relations and supporting communication requirements in a project management environment.
Help build and enhance CTC's corporate reputation among key audiences including the business community, media and third-party organizations
Write and develop public-facing materials that reinforce CTC's strategic objectives and strengthen the brand
Support issues management activities to protect and maintain brand reputation
Develop and execute communication plans and programs that meet business and stakeholder requirements and generate positive media coverage
Lead the development of quarterly and annual materials for CT REIT
Support the development of quarterly and annual materials for CTC and assist the Investor Relations team as required
Act as communication team lead on various projects and events, working closely with business leadership and project teams to advance communication priorities and develop effective integrated communication plans
Support and facilitate the delivery of corporate-wide communication initiatives and programs to business unit stakeholders and provide counsel as required
Creative development including writing, editing and PowerPoint presentations
Continuous media monitoring of ongoing topics and to identify potential issues
Participate in the measurement of the effectiveness of communication channels and provide expertise in the development of recommended opportunities for improvement
Work with the Manager to develop materials for corporate announcements, including press releases, media lists, fact sheets, key messages, remarks and Q&As
Research, stay current, and share relevant findings about emerging trends, best practices, potential issues and opportunities in the retail and consumer markets
Respond quickly to internal and external requests and provide required materials or information
Review and edit CTC's morning media monitoring coverage reports as needed, approximately 1-3 months per year
What you bring
5-7 years of progressive experience in the communication field, agency experience preferred
Post-secondary education in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related degree / diploma
Exceptional writing and editing skills
Ability to balance multiple priorities, prioritize and deliver programs and tactics on time in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment
Experience working directly with media
Excellent spoken and interpersonal communication skills, with attention to detail and accuracy
Strong relationship builder who is a fast learner and able to think quickly on their feet
Demonstrated track record in working with others and ability to interact effectively with senior management
Creative, professional, self-motivated and constantly looking to implement best practices in all areas of the communications field
Ability to work a flexible schedule as required, which may include early mornings, evenings and weekends
