About the Role

The Transportation Manager, US / Mexico will be reporting to the Sr Director, Transportation & Logistics. This position is based in Leon, Mexico. The person in this role will be responsible for creating and managing strategies to ensure efficient and cost-effective movement of goods cross border, focusing on transportation efficiencies, risk reductions and cost savings. This person will optimize transportation routes, identify opportunities for consolidation, direct vs transload, transit time reductions, and minimize costs associated with cross-border processes. The person in this role will be assessing and mitigating risks associated with cross-border warehousing operations, transportation delays, customs issues, regulatory changes, and security concerns. Ensure compliance with customs regulations, country laws and other regulatory requirements, working closely with customs brokers, regulatory agencies, transportation partners and internal / external stakeholders. The Transportation Manager would need to stay updated on cross-border industry trends, technology advancements, and regulatory changes to maintain and improve transportation and logistics strategies and best practices. Travel is required in this role.

You’ll Make a Difference By

  • Daily management of direct and split load cross border and Central American shipments from origin through to destination, including transload facility management.
  • Building and maintaining best-in-class transportation working relationships with local factories and transportation partners to optimize shipments and minimize security risks associated with product moving cross border
  • Responsible for mode selection, carrier selection and freight optimization
  • Overseeing and ensuring all locations ship orders per customer routing guides and guidelines.
  • Optimizing Mexico transportation for improved cost, service, speed, visibility, &reliability
  • Developing and managing key actionable transportation metrics to monitor performance, exceptions, process improvement and cost management
  • Creating actionable resiliency strategies to minimize cross border service disruptions
  • Collaborating with Logistics Team, internal stakeholders, factories and transportation partners on key initiatives and programs
  • Managing performance improvement strategy and processes with cross border transportation and logistics partners
  • Creating and maintaining SOPs to simplify and standardize processes cross-border transportation and logistics activities including RFPs, contracts, on-boarding.
  • Other duties as assigned.

About You

  • Minimum experience of 5 years in NA cross border transportation with high value shipments
  • Subject Matter Expert on import / export processes, customs regulations and trade laws pertaining to the US-MX corridor.
  • Strong knowledge of MX / US cross border customs entry processes, transportation policy and governing laws
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in ocean logistics or for a freight forwarder / ocean carrier, knowledge in air logistics is a plus
  • Ability to work and accomplish multiple tasks in parallel, delivering results in a fast-paced and ambiguous environment, while maintaining high-quality work ethic with little supervision
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with internal / external stakeholders
  • Strong proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English
  • Intermediate Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Working experience with Infor Nexus, Tableau and SAP a plus

    The hourly range for this position is $15.00 - $19.00 per hour.

    The salary is determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data for geographic locations.
