Overview

Khalsa Secondary School is seeking two Careers and Humanities teachers for a Sikh faith-based school located at 10589 124 Street. Academic teachers do not have to be observers of the faith. We are an IB MYP authorized World School and an AP Level 2 school. We are a growing school with opportunities, and our teachers are supported, have their own classroom, and have a prep in each semester. We recognize North American teaching experience. Openings for September 2025.

Open Positions

Secondary School Careers and Humanities Teacher — Start Date : September 2, 2025. Courses include Career Life Education 10, Literary Studies 10, Social Studies 10, and English First Peoples\' 10.
Secondary School Senior Humanities Teacher — Courses include Composition 11, Creative Writing 10, Creative Writing 11, Genocide Studies 12, and Social Justice 12.

Salary and Benefits

Starting salary : $6,400 per month.

Other salary benefits are available for this position.

This salary is offered to Certificate of Qualification teachers or teachers with a completed application with the BC Teacher Certification Branch (CoQ).

Teaching experience from within Canada is recognized for a possible higher starting salary for CoQ teachers.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that adhere to the curriculum.

Utilize a variety of teaching methods to ensure all students understand the material.

Create a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Assess student progress and provide feedback.

Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the overall learning experience.

Participate in parent-teacher meetings and school events.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field.

BC teaching certification.

Proven experience teaching Humanities subjects or related subjects (preferred).

Strong organizational skills to manage lesson plans and grading effectively.

Excellent communication skills to engage with students, parents, and colleagues.

Ability to tailor teaching methods for diverse learning styles.

Skills

Proficient in proofreading educational materials.

Classroom management expertise.

Effective communication and writing skills.

Experience in tutoring or special education is a plus.

Strong organizational abilities to handle multiple tasks efficiently.

Education, Experience, Language, and Certification

Education : Bachelor’s Degree (preferred).

Experience : teaching experience (1 year, preferred).

Language : English (required).

Licence / Certification : BC Teaching Certification (required).

Work Location : In person.
