Job description

ERM is seeking a motivated Environmental Consultant, LPMR / Mine Closure Planning to join our Mining team at one of our offices in Sudbury, Saskatoon or Calgary . Working under the direction of project managers and partners, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on a variety of mine closure related projects. You may also have the opportunity to support other disciplines (i.e., archaeology, ecology, water management, etc.) if interested.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Support a wide variety of mining and contaminated site projects including but not limited to Phase I and Phase II environmental assessments, site investigation, mine closure plans, mine closure cost estimate and asset retirement obligation (ARO), and development of management plans.
  • Coordinate and field work support activities - surveying, laboratory services, field monitoring equipment calibration and maintenance.
  • Compile and evaluate data and assist in report preparation.
  • Focus on team project delivery, taking direction primarily from project managers.
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Work within quality / budget / schedule expectations and scope-specific assignments.
  • Conduct field work, including soil, water, air, and dust sampling, remediation pilot tests, construction support, and remediation system operation and maintenance.
  • Communicate with subcontractors, regulatory agents, tenants, and clients during field activities.

REQUIREMENTS :

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, geology, science, or related discipline. A post-graduate degree is an asset.
  • 0 - 4 years of relevant experience in mining or environmental assessment work.
  • Experience working in BC, Ontario, and / or the Territories and familiarity with mine closure and environmental regulatory frameworks within these locales is an asset.
  • Effective written / verbal communication and organization / analytical skills; experience recording / writing detailed technical data and reports is a plus.
  • Strong commitment to safety, including following established Health and Safety protocols.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Detail-oriented with good problem-solving skills.
  • Valid driver’s license with good driving record.
  • Willingness to conduct fieldwork in remote locations is preferred.
  • Additional language skills (e.g., French and Spanish) are an asset.
  • Eligibility for professional registration as a member in training (e.g., E.I.T., G.I.T., or A.I.T.) would be an asset.
  • Must be in the Sudbury, Saskatoon or Calgary area and have the ability to go to the office when required.
