Surgical Process Improvement Lead – Interior Health Authority

Interior Health is hiring a term‑specific full‑time Lead to coordinate high priority surgical and endoscopy initiatives across the region. The role ends approximately December 14, 2027, or upon return of the incumbent.

Salary Range

$88,990 to $127,923 (subject to experience and internal equity review).

How You’ll Create Impact

The Surgical Process Improvement Lead prepares, coordinates, and implements high‑priority surgical and endoscopy initiatives from initial planning through evaluation at the regional, site, or community level. The Lead reports to the Interior Health (IH) Surgical Network and leads local teams to ensure projects are delivered within scope, cost, time, and quality, while facilitating collaboration and standardizing approaches.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and direction to projects, including developing project teams and site‑specific implementation plans under the direction of the site Director and IH Surgical Network.
  • Apply process improvement, project management, and change management methodologies to ensure timely completion and measurable improvements.
  • Analyze key strategies, initiatives, and opportunities, providing feedback to the Director and IH Surgical Network on feasibility and requirements for site‑level objectives. Identify gaps in service delivery and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Provide regular updates on implementation status and issues to the Director and IH Surgical Network.
  • Prepare formal reports—including volume and forecasting reports, decision briefs, project charters, needs assessments, gap analyses, work plans, cost estimates, and status updates—and escalates issues for resolution within local site and Network leadership teams.
  • Liaise with internal and external partners to ensure full participation in project areas, and facilitate consensus within the site and across departments.
  • Conduct literature reviews and gather information on relevant standards, initiatives, best practices, benchmarks, policies, and code requirements.
  • Promote consistent processes and continuous improvement across surgical services, sharing learning with other site leaders and the IH Surgical Network.
  • Collaborate with departments outside of surgery and GI Endoscopy / ACU to implement, evaluate, and report on key IH and provincial strategies.
  • Participate in Health Authority‑wide committees and working groups as required, and collaborate with other change and project‑management leaders to integrate IH principles.
  • Adhere to IH’s Occupational Health & Safety Program, reporting hazards, unsafe conditions, or incidents to management promptly.
