Key Activities
Reporting to the Managing Director, NAC Orchestra (NACO), the Senior Manager of Community Partnerships works with an energetic orchestra administration and orchestra to create and lead the NACO’s community engagement strategy.
Responsibilities include :
- Develop, manage, and nurture relationships with local organizations and other external and internal stakeholders, including the musicians of the orchestra, to create and implement the NAC Orchestra’s community engagement plan to align with the NAC’s Strategic Priorities, and the NAC Orchestra’s mission and values
- Lead on the discussion and implementation of ideas around community engagement impact at the national level, also in collaboration with other community partnership roles at the NAC, and with the EDI and Arts Alive teams.
- As part of the community engagement plan, working with NACO Administration team to program community engagement weeks with the orchestra.
- Create and implement professional development opportunities for orchestral artists and arts organizations across the country, for example workshops for emerging composers.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with NAC Orchestra to collaborate in the development of community engagement plan partnership opportunities.
- Create and manage budget associated with the community engagement plan;
- Manage Learning & Engagement team, NACO, effectively communicating priorities, setting goals, providing feedback, and managing performance.
Skill Requirements
Significant experience and demonstrated leadership in successful communityengagement programs using performing arts as focus
Demonstrated knowledge, experience and success in implementing programs focusing on equity, diversity and inclusion.Demonstrated success in building community partnerships and working across multiple teams;Strong leadership and management skills and experience leading a team;Solid communication, interpersonal, and conflict-resolution skills;Demonstrated initiative, follow-through and ability to meet deadlines within a fast-paced environment.Candidate must be living in or willing to move to the Ottawa / Gatineau regionStrong knowledge of Microsoft Office and MS Teams and project management software.Bilingualism in both official languages (English and French)Knowledge of the orchestral industry is desired
