THE OPPORTUNITY

This is an exciting opportunity for a forward-focused finance business partner with strong operational analysis skills as well as ability to partner and understand the business.

The Plant Finance Manager, Corrugated will report to the Director of Finance, Ontario Corrugated and is the key financial resource and advisor supporting two Corrugated plants in Brampton and Mississauga. As a member of the Ontario Corrugated Finance Team, this team member will work closely with the Director, Plant Managers, Business and Operations VP’s, Directors, and other business team leaders. This includes managing the month end close and preparing business reports summarizing results and analyses of the two Corrugated plants.

A core aspect of this role will be to drive value by identifying, leading, and participating on opportunities for the plant to operate more efficiently which will include projects and studies on customer profitability, new business, new equipment, productivity initiatives and cost reduction initiatives.

What you will be doing :

  • Responsible for managing the timely and accurate month-end close for two Corrugated plants.
  • Responsible for proactive analytics that drive results, management of the financial accounting and internal control processes
  • Ensure that the Profit & Loss statements and Balance Sheet accounts are accurate and conform to ASPE.
  • Participate in monthly review of financial operating results with plant leadership team with a focus on driving profitability
  • Ensure that internal controls are being followed.
  • Identify process improvement or waste reduction opportunities.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly reports which highlight and explain significant variances between actual results and Budget for the businesses.
  • Prepare specific analyses and explanations for the business including Customer sales volume and price, Supply and production volume, plant fixed costs, Logistics (freight and distribution costs) , Productivity initiatives and other analyses as required
  • Standard costing calculation and updates, including inventory valuation
  • Prepare the Annual Budget for the Corrugated plants.
  • Prepare analysis of key business drivers and initiatives contained in the Annual Budget against benchmarks in a presentation for the Corrugated Team.
  • Assist the Corporate Finance team with annual audit requirements related to the Corrugated plants.
  • Respond to inquiries from the senior leadership team and other department heads regarding financial results for the Corrugated plants.

What you will bring to the table :

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or commerce.
  • Designation or in final stages of working toward a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA).
  • 5+ years of experience in accounting or financial role in a manufacturing company
  • Ability to display initiative and leadership when handling multiple job responsibilities, setting priorities, problem-solving, meeting deadlines, and driving process improvements.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, initiative, and ability to multi-task
  • Deadline focus, and proven ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Exceptional planning and reporting skills with sound professional judgement.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build solid working relationships with the stakeholders in the organization.
  • Ability to work autonomously and in a team with little direction in a fast-paced environment
  • Extensive experience in MS Office skills and strong working knowledge with top tier ERP systems.
