We are seeking a hands-on, full-cycle Financial Controller to own and oversee all core accounting, payroll, and financial reporting functions for the business. You will bring : Advanced Excel skills ADP payroll experience preferred Proactive work ethic Senior Accounting or Controller experience of 5+ years Work arrangements : 5 days in the office Compensation : $100K to $110K + bonus of 2% to 5% (all in compensation $102K to $115,500) Benefits Plan The Financial Controller will work closely with leadership across sales, purchasing, laboratory, and production functions, and will regularly support and communicate with remote sales offices in Quebec and Alberta. Key Responsibilities include, and are not limited to : Financial Reporting Analysis Prepare and present monthly financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, and supporting schedules). Produce weekly cash flow statements and forecasts, monitoring liquidity and working capital. Analyze financial performance, margins, and variances; provide actionable insights to management. Maintain and continuously improve financial controls, reporting accuracy, and timeliness. Payroll Compliance Manage full-cycle payroll, including multi-jurisdictional payroll reconciliations and statutory filings across Canadian provinces. Ensure accurate payroll deductions, remittances, and compliance with federal and provincial regulations. Oversee sales tax compliance (GST / HST, PST, QST where applicable). Coordinate basic tax compliance, including federal and provincial corporate tax filings, working with external advisors as required. Accounting Operations Oversight Supervise and review the work of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable clerks, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and adherence to internal controls. Review journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close activities. Ensure proper documentation and audit-ready financial records. Cross-Functional Integration Partner with leaders in sales, purchasing, laboratory, and production to support budgeting, costing, pricing, and operational decision-making. Provide financial guidance that supports margin improvement, cost control, and growth initiatives. Communicate effectively with remote sales teams in Quebec and Alberta, supporting regional reporting needs and operational alignment. Systems Tools Demonstrate strong Excel proficiency, including financial modeling, data analysis, and margin analysis. Support improvements in financial processes, reporting tools, and workflows.
