Bankwest's Technology Division develops and executes all technical change within the organisation ensuring the leverage of technology to deliver the Bankwest strategy. The division works on a wide variety of technologies and projects with the support of a dedicated team in an Agile methodology. Our team is responsible for the world-leading application of technology and operations across every aspect of the bank - from product platforms for our customers, to essential tools within our business.

You’ll be part of the Payments crew where our mission is to ensure that our customers can transact, send, and receive payments effortlessly, securely, and with confidence. Our focus is on building for future by modernising payments platforms, aligning with Service domains, building resilience, continuous monitoring, and regulatory preparedness.

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer who is passionate about building impactful products, thrives in a Product Operating Model, and is eager to take full ownership of solving real user problems. You will join a cross-functional, empowered team, working side-by-side with a Product Owner/Manager and Designer to form the core product trio. Your role goes beyond coding: you will contribute to ideation, design, implementation, testing, release, and ongoing improvement of our products.

We value a “product engineer” mindset—where you care as much about the product’s success and user experience as you do about code. We expect you to be a clear communicator who collaborates proactively with peers and stakeholders, and to demonstrate technical leadership within and beyond the team.

We’re interested in hearing from people who:

• Possesses full-cycle engineering experience: ideation, technical design, build, testing (unit, integration, system), release, and ongoing maintenance.

• Actively embraces and integrates AI-driven solutions (including LLMs and agentic AI approaches) to enhance our engineering workflows and product capabilities.

• Are ready to execute state-of-the-art coding practices, driving high quality outcomes to solve core business objectives and minimise risks.

• Are actively involved in continuous learning, experimentation and innovation while contributing to the definition and governance of our standards and best practices.

• Are constantly thinking outside the box and breaking boundaries to solve complex technical problems.

• Can coach junior engineers, share knowledge to uplift and improve software development practices.

• Works well in teams and have strong collaboration skills in driving continuous improvement initiatives.

• Have experimental and E2E ownership mindset, deliver with minimum supervision.

Tech Skills:

We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don’t expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with some of these will set you up for success in this team:

• Expertise with technologies such as .NET Core, C#, Angular

• Hands-on experience with Microservices, Restful API design pattern

• Working knowledge of mobile development - Android / iOS

• Good understanding of application and system security best practices like OWASP

• Knowledge of modern Cloud technology stacks and how it can most effectively be deployed into enterprise environments

• Familiar with DevSecOps practices and tooling - GitHub Actions, SonarQube, Jira, Snyk, AppDynamics, Confluence, Cucumber, ServiceNow

• Any experience with the following would be great - Machine Learning & AI
