A typical day :
- Month-End Close : Prepares and / or supports the preparation of monthly journal entries, consolidating entries and month-end analyses in the area of revenue recognition.
- Projects / Ad-Hoc Tasks : Prepares ad-hoc financial information requests and analysis, Exhibits ownership on such analyses and works to identify trends and variances.
- Assists with special projects, year-end activities (such as audit inquiries), and related duties.
- Exhibits strong management and prioritization of Accounting initiatives.
- Collaboration / Leadership : Evaluates and recommends improvements to accounting / operational procedures and systems and assesses cross-departmental impacts as well.
- Works with departments within the organization, promoting strong relationships between department members.
- Collaborates cross-departmentally to understand the financial implications of different transactions.
- Provides guidance to other accounting staff and operational team members as needed.
Successful candidates will have :
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting from an accredited university; with CPA designation.
- Five+ years’ accounting experience preferably within a chemical manufacturing or oil and gas environment.
- Have strong analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
- Understands and complies with established departmental processes and procedures designed to support internal controls efforts, Identifies and brings to the attention of department management internal controls deficiencies.
- Proficient with SAP systems preferred.
- Ability to function effectively while meeting deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal, communication and administrative skills.
- Incumbents in this position know fundamental accounting concepts and practices. They use established methods / procedures and work under general supervision.
