We are searching for a  Occupational Therapy Assistant / Physiotherapy Assistant to join our Harbourstone Enhanced Care Team based in Sydney, Nova Scotia.

About the Opportunity

  • Prepare and administer individual and group physical therapy
  • Administers and assists residents with therapeutic intervention programs as developed by the PT and OT, such as range of motion, progressive resistive and stretching, ADLs;
  • Assists residents in ambulation, with or without an ambulatory aid, under the direction of the Physiotherapist
  • Documents according to policy and procedures (e.g. Daily Resident Care Record, resident progress notes, incident reporting, PPCA, Critical Incidents etc.).
  • Observes and monitors residents’ response during treatment and responds accordingly to ensure safety; note conditions and progress for reporting to PT / OT;
  • Maintains equipment inventory and assists with department audits, cleaning and inspections
  • About You

  • You have a Physiotherapy Assistant Diploma from an approved college or you have a Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology. If you are currently enrolled in these programs, your application will be considered.
  • U-first training or a Dementia Care Course would be considered an asset.
  • Previous experience working in a long-term care environment would also be considered an asset.
  • You have knowledge of basic resident care practices and principles.
  • A passion for the healthcare sector and / or ensuring seniors have access to quality accommodations, services, and care.
