Job Description :

The Control Technician will be responsible for all the building automation system (BAS) Controls components within the facility. Sometimes this is through a contractor, but the Controls Technician has the main role in the design, coordination, and implementation of this work. A Controls Technician is responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining the instrumentation and control systems that are used to support the operations of the facility. This may include sensors, actuators, control valves, pumps, exhaust fans, pneumatic systems, and other heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment that is used to monitor and control various systems within the facility. They work closely with other members of the maintenance team to ensure that the systems are operating efficiently and safely, and they may be called upon to troubleshoot and fix any issues that arise. This includes department and capital projects. Must be available to work scheduled overtime and participate in rotational after-hours coverage up to four times annually.

JOB DESCRIPTION :

  • Be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the building automation system and related controls.
  • Assume lead role in the on-going monitoring of HVAC control systems including troubleshooting and adjusting of schedules in all locations.
  • Liaise directly with internal and external contacts.
  • Be responsible for the energy-efficient operation of building systems to ensure BAS access for maintenance.
  • Investigate and respond to occupant comfort issues and HVAC equipment operational issues.
  • Oversee control system diagnostics for integrity of system operation and troubleshooting malfunctions and provide plausible solutions to ensure the system is functioning to the highest standards.
  • Prepare work orders for repair of equipment.
  • Complete electrical and mechanical assessments of existing equipment at hospital facilities on a regular basis and inspect utility monitoring devices.
  • Provide technical input to the solution of maintenance problems, material standards, purchase of new equipment, and to capital projects.
  • Inspect and report on BAS equipment conditions and provide input on upgrades of equipment.
  • Provide input and feedback in the development and implementation of the facility-wide energy conservation program and participate in all sustainability activities.
  • Provide building automation training and operational support to staff.
  • Assure work area is kept safe and clean.
  • Perform work in accordance with the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and all corporate / departmental policies and procedures related to Occupational Health and Safety.

Requirements :

  • Candidate must hold a valid National Instrumentation and Control Technician Certificate (Red Seal). (Essential)
  • Minimum of five (5) years and valid qualifications as a National Instrumentation and Control Technician (Red Seal) (Essential)
  • Experience in Hospitals and Healthcare Facilities
  • Demonstrated extensive knowledge of mechanical and HVAC systems.
  • Demonstrated basic computer programming skills for Building Automation Systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret construction drawings.
  • Demonstrated mechanically inclined and electronically inclined.
  • Demonstrated computer, office, and word processing skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work with power and hand tools
  • Demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-skilled environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work on inter-disciplinary project teams.
  • Demonstrated good verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and to prioritize tasks effectively
  • Fluently bilingual in French and English
  • Compensation :

    60K - $75K per year + full benefits packages

    Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.

    Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as short-term and long-term disability, life insurance and AD&D.
