Who You Are :
The Construction Manager plays a critical role in overseeing the entire construction process, ensuring projects are executed effectively and efficiently. They manage day-to-day site operations, facilitate coordination among different teams, and handle any obstacles that could impact project timelines or quality. With a focus on maintaining high standards, the Construction Manager ensures that all aspects of the project align with safety regulations, budgets, and specifications. They are instrumental in fostering communication and collaboration across teams while providing leadership to ensure the successful completion of each project. Ultimately, they work to ensure that every construction project is delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality.
This position is located full-time at our Leduc Shop Mod Yard.

10 years of experience in a mod yard / fabrication shop in a senior leadership roleHigh School Education & Journeyman Trade TicketFamiliarity with various Microsoft Office or Google Suite applicationMust be willing to travelMust be competent in estimating and quantity surveyAbility to work closely with Superintendents, Office and Field StaffMust have excellent organizational, presentation and interpersonal skills that are required to manage multiple tasks and peopleValid driver’s license and clean abstractResponsibilities :
Project Oversight & Scheduling
Monitor construction progress by conducting regular site walk-throughs and verifying that projects align with schedules and quality expectations.Identify and address delays or inefficiencies in real-time to keep build cycles on track.Coordinate seasonal construction activities and ensure all pre-construction documentation is reviewed and approved before work begins.Review and approve all the pre-construction documents.Adjust schedules to accommodate delays or unforeseen site conditions, minimizing downtime and ensuring teams are informed.Manage all site services, including third parties.Trade & Team Coordination
Act as the central point of contact for subcontractors, site staff, and project managers to streamline communication.Synchronize trade activities to prevent scheduling conflicts and keep work moving efficiently.Clarify responsibilities and expectations for all teams, ensuring smooth collaboration and issue resolution.Share updates on site priorities, design modifications, or other changes that impact multiple teams.Collaborate with all stakeholders to assure that the Superintendent has the most up-to-date information and is aware of any changes related to their project.Assist the Project Foreman in resolving issues related to trade performance and any other issues that may affect the project build cycle.Quality Assurance & Compliance
Ensure that work aligns with blueprints, structural designs, and building codes, resolving discrepancies between conditions and design requirements.Perform regular inspections to maintain quality control.Oversee all internal and external construction inspections, ensuring compliance with authority requirements.Confirm that systems function correctly and meet standards before shipments .Safety & Risk Management
Identify and document potential hazards on-site, assessing their severity and impact on workers and the project.Enforce safety protocols, conduct hazard assessment meetings, and ensure subcontractors comply with risk mitigation strategies.Investigate incidents, document findings in reports, and implement corrective actions through training and procedural updates.Continuously update risk assessments to account for evolving site conditions and emerging hazards.Budget & Resource Management
Monitor construction expenses, ensuring that subcontractor and supplier invoices match completed work and agreed-upon terms.Track material and labor costs, comparing actual expenses to the budget and flagging discrepancies for review.Develop and oversee cost forecasting processes to ensure accurate budgeting, financial planning, and cost control throughout the project lifecycle.Work with procurement teams to optimize resource allocation, preventing overstocking while ensuring materials arrive on time.Provide detailed budget updates and expenditure summaries to senior management throughout the project.Leadership & Team Development
Train and mentor site teams in best construction practices, ensuring understanding of project goals and execution strategies.Provide performance feedback and hold teams accountable for meeting expectations.Support team growth and succession planning by identifying and developing key talent within the construction department.Attend construction meetings to align on project status, raise concerns, and contribute to strategic decision-making.Escalate issues as needed to the General Manager and other relevant stakeholders.Review resources based on new projects and turnover with the project managers, reallocating talent as needed while collaboratively identifying development paths for the team.
