Abstract Developments is searching for a talented Construction Foreman to join our growing, award-winning company.

This is an outstanding opportunity for a highly experienced, motivated Foreman to help deliver multi-family homes to the local market in the Victoria area.

Primary Objectives :

As a Foreman at Abstract Developments, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing and coordinating the construction activities of our real estate development projects. You will be responsible for leading and managing a team of construction workers, ensuring the timely completion of projects while adhering to high-quality standards and safety regulations. Your expertise and leadership skills will be crucial in achieving project objectives and maintaining the company's reputation for excellence in construction. You will be responsible for upholding and promoting Abstract’s core values of Quality, Passion, and Integrity in all aspects of daily work.

Responsibilities :

Project Management : Plan and coordinate construction activities, including scheduling, resource allocation, and task delegation to meet project timelines.Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure project requirements are met.Monitor construction progress, identify potential issues, and proactively implement solutions to ensure project milestones are achieved.
Team Leadership : Lead and manage a team of construction workers, including carpenters, masons, electricians, and other tradespeople.Provide clear instructions, guidance, and supervision to the construction team to ensure efficient and effective workflow.Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, promoting teamwork, professionalism, and a strong work ethic.
Quality Assurance : Ensure that construction work adheres to building codes, safety regulations, and industry standards.Conduct regular inspections to identify any defects or deviations from project specifications and take corrective actions as necessary.Maintain a high level of quality control, monitoring workmanship and materials used in construction.
Safety Compliance : Promote and enforce a culture of safety on construction sites, ensuring compliance with all relevant safety regulations and protocols.Conduct regular safety meetings, provide safety training to workers, and implement safety measures to minimize the risk of accidents and injuries.Investigate and report any safety incidents, near misses, or hazards promptly, and take appropriate corrective actions.
Communication and Reporting : Maintain effective communication channels with project stakeholders, including project managers, subcontractors, and suppliers.Provide regular progress updates, construction reports, and any relevant documentation to project managers and senior management.Address any concerns, issues, or disputes that may arise during construction, facilitating effective resolution and maintaining positive relationships.

Requirements

Qualifications, Skills, and Attributes :

Previous experience as a construction foreman or similar role in residential wood framing, concrete form work, finishing, or general carpentry.

In-depth knowledge of construction methods, techniques, and materials.

Computer literae for field / office communication – Outlook, Word, Excel, MS Project, Procore, Jonas, and Blue Beam are considered an asset.

Read, interpret, and work from blueprints, drawings, sketches, and other specifications on a variety of structures related to the construction project.

Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team.

Excellent organizational and time management abilities.

Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings and blueprints.

Familiarity with building codes, safety regulations, and industry standards.

Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate with various stakeholders.

Problem-solving and decision-making skills to address construction challenges and find effective solutions.

Capable of working in a dynamic, face-paced environment.

Must be physically capable of heavy lifting as per WorkSafe BC regulations above shoulder height; climbing multiple flights of stairs and / or ladders throughout the day; ability to kneel, crouch, bend throughout the day; grasp / push / pull objects using both hands; willingness and ability to work at heights utilizing established safety controls.

Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Ability to build trust with trades, suppliers, customers, and clients in order to promote the Abstract brand at and outside of working hours.
