Fire Ranger - District Fire Ranger

Introduction

Manitoba Natural Resources and Indigenous Futures is seeking highly motivated individuals interested in filling the role of District Fire Ranger(s) (FR2) in the Northern Region of Manitoba. Duties : The Fire Ranger 2 performs a variety of heavy and light manual duties associated with maintenance, preparedness and daily inventory control of the equipment used in the fire operations; also performs janitorial duties, and general maintenance of grounds and facilities of the assigned Wildfire Area. The incumbent is responsible for a variety of duties including :

• Ensures the district fire equipment inventory, vehicles, supplies and caches are accounted for and maintained in serviceable condition to Provincial Standards.
• Participates in minor construction, repair and wildfire service infrastructure maintenance projects.
• Assist in organizing forest fire suppression support activities including but not limited to : arranging for support staff and lodging, ordering food, commissary, supplies, and loading / unloading of support aircraft.
• Maintains detailed records of equipment inventories.
• Conducts work activities in accordance with Workplace Safety and Health Act Regulation.
