Detention Guard - Lillooet, B.C.

Commissionaires BC is looking to hire casual on call detention guards to work with us at the RCMP detachment in Lillooet.

Shift Times : On-Call - Days, Evenings and Overnights

Payrate : $22 / hr

Position Summary : Under the direction of the RCMP Member responsible for Cell Block Operations, Detention Guards are primarily responsible for monitoring the safety and well-being of persons in custody as well as performing additional duties as required. You must live withing a 60 minutes drive of the detachment.

Duties And Responsibilities :

• Observe and check prisoners frequently and irregularly, including the use of CCTV
• Assist RCMP members in prisoner searches, under direction
• Organize meals, record prisoner activity, and maintain a prisoner activity logbook
• Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of cells when vacated or arrange janitor assistance
• Conduct search of cells prior to occupation and when cells are vacated, reporting any damage
• Maintain cellblock security by ensuring cell doors are always locked
• Ensure all personal effects removed from prisoners are properly secured
• Monitor fire safety and be fully conversant with fire orders
• Handle and dispense laundry items
• Dispense approved prescription medications to persons in custody, under supervision
• Perform other duties required by the detachment
