Unit Summary
The Data Management Team supports the McMaster Children’s Hospital (MCH) most particularly the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, the Special Care Nursery, the Pediatric Critical Care Unit and newborns who received care at HHS. The Data Management Team is a small team of professionals that support MCH needs for collecting, storing, reporting, and benchmarking locally, provincially, nationally and internationally.
Position Summary
The Critical Care Data Assistant is responsible for maintaining the accuracy, integrity and security of many databases, including a series of large, complex, computerized records systems. These databases include: the Canadian Neonatal Network, the Niday Database, the Canadian Perinatal Surgery Network, the Pediatric Intensive Care Evaluations Project, the Vermont Oxford Network and other local databases including local monitoring of Newborn Screening. These databases are fundamental to monitoring patient outcomes and provide a foundation for research initiatives to further the science of neonatal medicine and improve patient care. Responsibilities include: applying knowledge of regulations, policies, protocols and/or procedures to control and maintain accurate records, managing large volumes of information, collecting specialized research data, solving operational/data problems in consultation with other offices and/or supervisors, participating in regular audits of data integrity, participating in ongoing job training, maintaining confidentiality of data, preparing a variety of basic status reports, and general clerical/secretarial duties as required.
