Purolator is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Database Administrator (DBA). The ideal candidate will be responsible to assist with design, development, implementation, and maintenance of multi-platform database solutions. Working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure optimal database performance, security, scalability, and reliability to support our organization's ever evolving, complex data needs.
Responsibilities
Database Development and Design :
- Design, implement, and optimize database systems in a multi-technology environment
- Develop efficient database schemas, structures, and indexing strategies to support business applications
Performance Optimization :
Monitor and enhance database performance, scalability, and availabilityIdentify bottlenecks and implement strategies for efficient query optimization and tuningCloud Integration :
Collaborate with DevOps and cloud infrastructure teams to deploy and manage database solutionsUtilize cloud-native tools for monitoring, automation, and cost optimizationData Security and Compliance :
Implement security measures to safeguard sensitive dataEnsure databases comply with regulatory and organizational standardsAdditional Responsibilities
Collaboration and Support :
Work with application developers to integrate databases with front-end and back-end applicationsProvide support for database-related issues, troubleshooting, and incident resolutionMonitor Incident and request queue and support change management processesAutomation and CI / CD :
Build and maintain database CI / CD pipelines to streamline development and deployment processesLeverage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation for database provisioningDocumentation and Reporting :
Maintain up-to-date documentation for database structures, configurations, and processesGenerate reports and dashboards for stakeholders as required.Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Equivalent experience will be considered.Proven experience with multi-platform database technologies (e.g., AWS Aurora Family(Postgres,MySQL), MSSQL, DynamoDB, Azure Cosmos DB, Google BigQuery)Hands-on experience with SQL and NoSQL database systemsExperience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google CloudQualifications
Technical Skills :
Proficiency in database programming languages like SQL, PL / SQL, or T-SQL.Familiarity with database migration tools and techniquesKnowledge of database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery solutionsExperience with data warehousing and ETL processes such as SSIS is a plusStrong Understading of lambda development lifecycle. Experience is a plusStrong scripting skills in Python, Bash, or similarKnowledge of data modeling tools and methodologiesSoft Skills :
Strong analytical and problem-solving skillsExcellent communication and collaboration abilitiesAbility to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneouslyNatural curiosity to learn and explore the unknownPreferred Qualifications :
Certifications such as AWS Certified Database – Specialty, Microsoft Azure Database Administrator, or Google Professional Data EngineerExperience with containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and KubernetesUnderstanding of machine learning and big data technologiesPOSTING DETAILS
