Key Responsibilities :
- Manage a small Program Accounting team based in Canada
- Review monthly cost reports and provide estimates of future program costs, support and challenge Program Accountants, Work Package Managers, Program Managers, and Senior Management
- Ensure the business provides accurate time-charging against its various programs
- Publish quarterly Contract Status Review (CSRs) for agreed programs and support CFO reviews
- Perform variance analyses on costs, scope and schedules, and report on related risks
- Project management in resolution of outstanding issues and variance recovery plans
- Review the headcount / staffing assumptions across the program portfolio and help ensure that adequate resources are available to perform future-planned work
- Prepare reports for external customers as required under program contracts
- Support Program Managers with customer interface as required
- Manage / oversee program budgeting and forecasting process
- Oversee the preparation and submission of the annual R&D Expenditure Credit information
- Oversee, review and challenge all bids and proposals
- Provide program reports to Program managers and Senior Management as requested
- Ensure that program invoicing is completed on schedule, monitor unpaid invoices and assist in the resolution of any overdue customer invoices
- Support month-end close processes for all project related entries and reconciliations
Role Requirements :
A sound understanding of program cost accounting / project accounting is requiredThe ability and desire to interpret financial informationSelf-motivated with the ability to work autonomously whilst able to motivate others around the businessGood communicator who is highly analytical, with good attention to detail and able to prioritize tasks.Creative and pragmatic in approach whilst being well organized and calm under pressure.Problem-solving skills are crucial to analyzing past and current performance and recommending. objectives to improve productivity and profitabilityAbility to obtain a government security clearance in country of residence.Qualifications / Skills :
Advanced degree in Accounting or Finance; professional accountancy qualification an advantage.Experience with GAAP, IFRS accounting standards.Willing to present complex financial informationProblem-solving skills are crucial to analyzing past and current performance and recommending objectives to improve productivity and profitabilityStrong analytical skillsCompetent in use of Microsoft Office products.Demonstrable high degree of computer literacy including familiarity with an accounting or ERP system.li-onsite
