Through the Health Care Provider Contract, Calian employs health‑care professionals across Canada who are integral to supporting the health and wellbeing of our military members.
Position Overview
We are seeking a Primary Care Physician to work at the Canadian Forces Base Shilo in Manitoba. Physicians serve as an essential member of the health‑care team, delivering comprehensive, multidisciplinary, collaborative primary health‑care services to Canadian Armed Forces members. Services include primary care, minor trauma care, health promotion, disease and injury prevention, rehabilitation, and support services. Full‑time hours are available.
Responsibilities
- Assess medical fitness for duty (pre‑ and post‑deployment, periodic health assessment, recruiting medicals, hazardous occupation assessments, post‑illness or injury).
- Diagnose and treat occupational and environmental injuries and illnesses, including rehabilitation.
- Establish Patient Medical Employment Limitations (MEL), approve and recommend sick leave, and assign / recommend changes in medical category per policy.
- Maintain occupational health records through the Electronic Health Record and other health‑record forms.
- Provide comprehensive primary medical care to patients with acute and chronic health conditions, including referrals to other providers when warranted.
Qualities & Certifications
License from the provincial professional college in the location of practice.Certification in Family Medicine with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CCFP).Basic Life Support for Health Providers or CPR / AED Level C Certification.Additional Requirements
Minimum of 1 year full‑time equivalent experience directly providing patient medical care in an ambulatory primary care, occupational medicine, urgent care, or emergency medicine setting.Clinic open Monday to Friday, 7 : 30 am – 4 : 00 pm.Perks and Benefits
