Location : Various locations across British Columbia

As a Building Department Manager / Director you will oversee and manage the operations of the building department to ensure compliance with building codes regulations and safety standards. Your role will be pivotal in ensuring the efficient operation of the department and the successful of building projects within the jurisdiction.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Lead and manage the building department including supervising staff overseeing departmental operations and ensuring effective performance.
  • Develop implement and enforce policies procedures and standards to ensure compliance with building codes regulations and safety standards.
  • Oversee the review and approval of building plans permits and inspections to ensure adherence to local codes and regulations.
  • Coordinate with other municipal departments agencies and stakeholders to address and resolve buildingrelated issues and facilitate project approvals.
  • Monitor and evaluate departmental performance identify areas for improvement and implement strategies to enhance efficiency and service delivery.
  • Provide leadership and support to department staff including training mentoring and performance management.
  • Prepare and present reports budgets and recommendations to municipal authorities and stakeholders regarding building department activities and initiatives.
  • Stay informed about changes in building codes regulations and industry best practices to ensure departmental practices are uptodate and effective.

Requirements

  • Relevant certification or diploma in Building Management Public Administration or a related field.
  • Proven experience in a management or leadership role within a building department or related area with a strong understanding of building codes and regulations.
  • Excellent leadership and organizational skills with experience in managing teams and departmental operations.
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills for addressing complex building and regulatory issues.
  • Effective communication skills for interacting with municipal officials stakeholders and the public.
  • Ability to develop and implement policies procedures and strategic plans to improve departmental performance.
