Overview
Manager, Security role at Primaris REIT – Orchard Park Shopping Centre, Kelowna, BC. This position focuses on overseeing and enhancing safety and security measures to protect shoppers, employees and property while collaborating with internal stakeholders, law enforcement, and external security partners.
Location : Orchard Park Shopping Centre, Kelowna, BC. Employment type : Full-time, Salary. This role requires flexibility in work hours and may include shifts outside the traditional Monday–Friday schedule. A company-provided uniform will be worn on duty.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a Life Safety and Security plan for loss prevention programs to protect assets of owners and property tenants.
- Direct supervision of 3rd Party Security Protection Service Provider and in-house supervisor; develop a comprehensive training program around loss prevention, occupants life safety and the property’s image.
- Maintain ongoing timely communication with the General Manager regarding events.
- Follow proper procedures for reporting liability claims and completing occurrence reports.
- Develop and maintain communications with property tenants, local law enforcement, local fire prevention personnel, and security peers in the market area.
- Develop and foster inter-departmental cooperation to ensure shared safety.
- Assist in the preparation and reconciliation of annual Life Safety and Security Budgets.
- Organize and implement seminars for tenants on safety and security issues, conduct Fire Warden Training, and plan and execute annual evacuation drills.
- Act as Co-chair for Health & Safety Committee.
- Develop and update Threat Assessments, Crisis Response Plans and Life Safety Plans for the property; implement Emergency, Fire and Life Safety Plans.
- Develop and implement emergency procedures, disaster recovery plans, building access control, security systems, reports and recommendations.
- Provide training for Primaris employees and required stakeholders on Emergency, Fire and Life Safety Plans (annual, quarterly, new hires).
- Motivate, direct and evaluate all direct reports through formal and informal discussions, annual performance reviews and goal setting.
- Perform ad hoc tasks as directed by the General Manager.
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree or College Diploma in Police Foundations, Law & Security, Criminology or related field. A post-secondary degree in law enforcement is an asset.Valid Security License.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.CPR / First Aid knowledge required.Verbal Judo would be considered an asset.Pressure Point Control Tactics (PPCT) would be considered an asset.Criminal background check clearance.To excel in this role, strong communication skills and retail experience are beneficial.
