Belvika is growing and is currently seeking a Maintenance Mechanic for its Bowery facility, located in Brantford, for the Afternoon shift. The individual must be flexible to work all shifts.
Hourly rate : $24.50 - $27 hourly based on experience.
Position status : existing vacancy
Shift : Afternoon shift
The successful candidate will :
- Set up and troubleshoot packaging machines, filling machines, ink jet coders and a variety of other similar packaging equipment utilized at Belvika;
- Adhere to all safety policies and procedures;
- Observe machine while operating to ensure quality and conformity of filled or packaged products to standards;
- Ability to utilize manuals to help troubleshoot effectively issues with machinery;
- Adjust machine components, settings, tensions, and pressures to ensure optimal machinery operation of product packing;
- Regulate machine flow or speed;
- Stop or reset machines when malfunctions occur, clear machine jams, and report malfunctions to a supervisor;
- Inspect and remove defective products and packaging material;
- Perform preventative maintenance on all equipment, clean, oil, and make minor adjustments or repairs to machinery and equipment, such as opening valves or setting guides;
- Monitor the production line, watching for problems such as pileups, jams, or glue that isn't sticking properly;
- Train the Line Equipment Operators;
- Assist on production lines as necessary;
- Perform building maintenance as required, (i.e. changing batteries, light bulbs and ceiling tiles etc.);
- Input purchase order requests in CMMS system for maintenance requirements;
- Follow all relevant departmental policies, processes, standard operating procedures, and instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner;
- Follow all Company health and safety policies and procedures and work in compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Act;
- Other tasks as assigned by your supervisor or designate.
Education / Work experience requirements :
1-2 year’s experience as a Maintenance Technician or Mechanic specializing in primary and secondary packaging (e.g. shrink wrapping, overwrapping and cartoning);Engineering / Technical Education background;Licensed Millwright not requiredKey technical & behavioural competencies :
