SUMMARY
Reporting to the Manager, Treating & Shipping, the Treater is responsible for efficiently and accurately operating the treating cylinders and other equipment to chemically treat wood products.
EXPECTED CONTRIBUTIONS
- Ensure treating plant area is well maintained and equipment is in good working order
- Comply with, and adhere to, all health and safety guidelines and report any safety or maintenance issues to management in a timely manner
- Operate treating equipment : software, pumps, valves, etc.
- Perform appropriate cylinder washout procedures when changing treatments, while following all safety protocols
- Complete treating charges based on pre-determined guidelines
- Confirm charges are properly tallied and recorded both on paper data sheets and computer systems
- Accurately tag and complete charge sheets
- Ensure accuracy of all tallies and all loads by performing quality control checks
- Assist in preservative inventory management, including sampling, receiving, mixing and usage control
- Monitor and mix chemical treating solutions within variance tolerances
- Correctly complete paperwork and maintain accurate treating records
- Attend all training sessions and safety meetings as required
