Position Profile : Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Mechanical Engineer Co-op rolerequires good knowledge of mechanics, materials, and machine elements, alongwith a good understanding of Design for Manufacturing and Assembly.

Responsibilities :

• Determine the most appropriate methods for material handling, considering employee safety, food safety, efficiency, cost and lead time.
• Participate in and / or lead technical continuous improvement projects by means of problem solving, idea generation, preparing investment requests, project co-ordination, construction, commissioning, verification, and documentation.
• Prepare mechanical designs, create equipment layouts, and review drawings.
• Work with skilled trades to develop assembly procedures for mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Work with vendors to purchase machinery and components.
• Any other related duties, as required.

Qualifications :

• Ability to work within a cross-functional team or as an individual with minimal supervision.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient in Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Working knowledge of materials including metals, plastics, and rubbers.
• Coop term : May 2024 to August 2024

While performingthe duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk andhear. The employee frequently is required to stand and walk.

Theemployee is occasionally required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, andfeel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance;

stoop, kneel, crouch, orcrawl; taste and smell. The employee must occasionally lift and / or moveup to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job includeclose vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depthperception, and ability to adjust focus.
