Are you a recognized expert in wetland science with a passion for environmental stewardship? The Government of Alberta is looking for a dynamic Wetland Science Team Lead to lead innovative research and monitoring programs within the Oil Sands Monitoring (OSM) Program. This role offers the opportunity to shape the future of wetland ecosystem management in one of Canada’s most critical regions.

As the Wetland Science Team Lead, you will spearhead long-term monitoring initiatives, analyze data to guide impactful environmental policies, and provide scientific leadership to a talented team of junior scientists. You will work closely with industry, government, and academic partners to ensure the protection and sustainability of Alberta’s wetlands amidst industrial development, climate change, and other environmental pressures.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Lead the development of groundbreaking wetland monitoring programs.
  • Analyze and report on OSM data through scientific publications and technical reports.
  • Oversee multi-year research initiatives evaluating the impacts of industrial development and climate change.
  • Collaborate with diverse stakeholders to integrate findings and deliver actionable environmental insights.

What We’re Looking For :

  • Ph.D. in wetland ecology, hydrology, biology, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience leading wetland research and monitoring programs.
  • A proven track record of peer-reviewed publications and impactful scientific contributions.
  • Strong leadership, data analysis, and communication skills.
