The greatest achievements in history are borne from the greatness within people – where human potential meets vision, and passion fuels evolution. Unlocking this potential is the most important thing we do at Bird.

As a leader in Canadian construction for over 100 years, the impact of our team is etched deeply within the core of our legacy. Beyond Bird, this impact is felt in the fundamental aspects of our everyday lives. From the critical infrastructure we depend on, to the energy and resources that keep us moving – we are powering our communities and shaping Canada’s skylines coast‑to‑coast. Entrenched in the foundation of a culture built more than a century ago is an enduring quest to reimagine what is possible. Our impact is greater than ever, and we are looking for those who seek to redefine their story.

We are a dynamic team of over 5,000 with a range of professions, backgrounds, and areas of expertise. This breadth of diversity in people and opportunities is one of the greatest aspects of building your career with Bird. Every trajectory looks different. At Bird, you hold the pen, and you write your story. As you unlock your potential, you are surrounded by a team that supports you every step of the way.

Be a part of our team, where we pride ourselves on the quality of our work and the way we treat each other and our partners. You will build a career and long‑lasting relationships based on respect, collaboration, and a solution‑focused mindset. Bird is a place where you will unlock your potential and achieve your goals.

Reporting to the Director of Engineering, the Project Engineer will be part of a high‑performing project team that is dedicated to delivering this complex undertaking through collaboration and a best‑for‑project vision.

What You Will Be Working On

  • Collaborate closely with the Project Manager and Site Superintendent to reduce task overload and support high‑level project oversight. Lead initiatives to streamline project execution.

  • Work with key stakeholders to identify, develop, and implement cost‑effective strategies that optimize project delivery for large‑scale industrial projects.

  • Prepare and regularly update project schedules in line with overall project goals. Maintain and adjust the project budget and cost reports to reflect progress during construction phases.

  • Proactively identify, address, and resolve project challenges related to site conditions, scheduling, and design. Ensure that issues are managed swiftly to avoid delays or budget overruns.

  • Foster and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, sub‑trades, and suppliers, ensuring clear communication and coordination throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Ensure that all health, safety, and environmental standards meet both legislative requirements and company policy. Support on‑site safety teams in maintaining a zero‑incident culture.

  • Monitor and support change order pricing, ensuring that all changes are properly tracked, evaluated, and approved to maintain cost integrity.

  • Manage the coordination and approval of shop drawings, ensuring accuracy and adherence to project specifications.

  • Post‑secondary education in Civil Engineering, Construction Technology, or a related discipline.

  • P.Eng designation is an asset

  • 3+ years of hands‑on experience as a Project Coordinator/Engineer or in similar roles within large industrial/nuclear projects, with a project value of $100 million or greater.

  • Capable of managing multiple priorities under pressure, with the ability to foresee and solve challenges proactively in fast‑paced environments.

  • Ability to cultivate strong working relationships with stakeholders, sub‑trades, and team members, promoting collaboration and effective communication.

  • Strong critical thinking, problem‑solving abilities, with meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in reporting and analysis.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, able to present technical information clearly to a variety of audiences.

  • Demonstrated commitment to upholding the highest ethical standards, with alignment to the company’s values and objectives.
