Responsibilities
- Manages maintenance programs and activities of designated BCRTC assets to support safety, efficiency and reliability for the rail system.
- Provides area-specific input to maintenance strategic planning and develops operating plans and tactics to support department strategies.
- Reviews and signs off on the annual maintenance plan (AMP) based on regulatory, manufacturing and BCRTC standards.
- Develops departmental operating budgets and ensures AMP is cost effective and well communicated to stakeholders.
- Participates in the 5-year AMP planning forecast.
- Maintains and executes the approved AMP of all assets in accordance with engineering standards and procedures; manages asset maintenance activities to meet operational requirements.
- Provides operational leadership to the maintenance department; prioritizes and manages maintenance activities by staffing, resources, inventory and budgets.
- Forecasts, schedules and executes Preventative Maintenance as per prescriptions; ensures high-quality workmanship and audits.
- Ensures safety of assets and compliance with regulatory requirements including BCRTC SMS; ensures job hazard analyses accompany work tasks.
- Oversees department performance with KPIs; reports to senior management and executives; drives improvements through supervision and corrective actions.
- Develops and implements practices, methods and SOPs; establishes departmental policies and procedures.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience in maintenance management for complex transit or similar asset-intensive operations.
- Strong leadership, budgeting, scheduling and quality assurance skills.
- Ability to develop and monitor maintenance plans, budgets and performance metrics.
- Knowledge of safety, regulatory compliance and asset management best practices.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
