Job description

We are looking for an experienced and dedicated VP of Finance who will be responsible for developing and directing the company’s analytical, financial plans and policies. The VP of Finance reports on metrics to optimize growth by understanding where efficiencies exist to maximize scalability throughout the year

VP of Finance responsibilities include overseeing accounting operations, gathering and analyzing financial data and preparing financial reports.

Working with the CEO you will ensure our operations remain on track to hit our target goals. Financial planning and analysis (FP&A) to drive informed decision making and optimizing company performance, risk management, and investor relations will also form part of the overall job responsibilities.

This executive will be a key member of a leadership team that is focused on delivering exceptional results, driving sales growth, enhance profitability, improve operational efficiency, and increase shareholder value.

Job Responsibilities

Financial Oversight

  • Deliver accurate, transparent and timely financial reporting in accordance with ASPE accounting standards
  • Oversee Senior Accountant and Manufacturing Sr. Analyst to ensure accurate financial reporting results for

Manufacturing and Systems Engineering

  • Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of manufacturing cost model analysis and planning
  • Work cross functionally with all departments in the company to provide financial results, budgets and
  • forecasting to ensue alignment with company objectives

  • Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures and ensure internal controls are enforced
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports to the board, shareholders, banks, export agencies and other
  • stakeholders as required

  • Work with CEO and Board Chair to prepare board of director reporting packages
  • Cash Flow Management

  • Manage working capital and cash flow including weekly, monthly and annual forecasting.
  • Monitor cash conversion cycles and metrics
  • Responsible for trade finance including issuing letters of credit and advance payment guarantees
  • Co-ordinate with bank to conduct annual review of borrowing facilities and investment accounts
  • Ensure appropriate company liquidity across multiple jurisdictions
  • Contract Review

  • Review all incoming purchase orders ensuring compliance with key terms and conditions prior to purchase order
  • acceptance. Maintain tracker of all received purchase orders

  • Review outgoing purchase orders to ensure procurement policy and delegation of authority being followed
  • Work with procurement on vendor management process and negotiation of pricing and payment terms
  • Review customer contract terms to ensure compliance with standard terms and conditions
  • Insurance

  • Co-ordinate annual insurance renewal to ensure the company has appropriate coverage for commercial, liability,
  • property and directors and officers insurance

  • Act as main contact to broker and manage relationship with insurance and potential bonding providers
  • Review insurance portion of contracts to ensure company has adequate coverage before entering into any new
  • customer or vendor agreements

    Development of Finance Team

  • Oversee four direct reports (Senior Accountant, Manufacturing Sr. Analyst, Procurement Co-ordinator and AP
  • Co-ordinator).

  • Create a collaborative work environment for the finance team and work with individual staff on goal setting in
  • alignment with corporate objectives

  • Develop a high performing team that will partner with the operational teams and support a growing
  • international business

    Other

  • Oversee annual financial statement audit process and act as main contact to auditors
  • Oversee Payroll Process for Canada and U.S Staff and review of bi-weekly payroll and annual reporting
  • requirements including T4 submission

  • Oversee Company RRSP / DPSP Plan and 401k Plan for U.S Staff
  • Act as main point of contact to CRA, Ministry of Finance and CBSA
  • Prepare financial reporting required for government funding agencies including IRAP and preparation of annual
  • SRED Tax Credit Claim

  • Work in co-ordination with HR manager to review company benefit plan for employees and negotiate renewal
  • terms

  • Take the lead on any financial software upgrades (e.g Accounting Software, Procurement Software)
  • Secure non-dilutive financing via grants and awards
