Process Engineering Intern (8-month Co-op/Internship)

AbCellera
Vancouver
$3.3K-$3.7K a month
Internship

AbCellera is breaking the barriers of conventional drug development to propel antibody-based medicines from target to clinic.

We are a team of scientists, engineers, creatives, and business professionals who believe that advancing science enhances lives.

We have developed technologies to unlock high-value drug targets, including antibody-drug conjugates and T-cell engagers for cancer, and complex transmembrane proteins for indications such as metabolic and endocrine conditions, pain, and autoimmunity.

We are looking for a motivated and talented individual currently pursuing a degree in Engineering, Life Sciences, or other relevant field, to join our Facilities and Engineering Team, as a co-op or intern for an 8 month term, starting in May 2025.

Working within the Clinical Manufacturing team, you will contribute to the startup and qualification of AbCellera’s new GMP clinical monoclonal antibody manufacturing facility.

You will assist with developing the internal drawings of product contact consumables needed to produce Process Flow Diagrams, as well as complete hands on qualification of newly installed process equipment.

While in this on-site position, based in beautiful Vancouver, you will receive guidance and supervision from experienced team members within the Facilities and Engineering team.

The internship is designed to offer exposure to real-world projects and the opportunity to contribute to the advancement of antibody-based medicines from target to clinic within Canada.

How you might spend your days

  • Building a drawing library of product contact consumables used in monoclonal antibody production
  • Developing product contact consumables Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) to define and describe new manufacturing processes
  • Solving design challenges to ensure that all process consumables connect safely and reliably and interface correctly with required processing equipment
  • Contribute to hands on qualification of newly installed process equipment required for plant operations
  • Maintaining a catalog of supplier drawings for product contact consumables
  • Creating and deploying a training course for engineering team on how to create and maintain product contact consumables library and Process Flow Diagrams PFDs

We'd love to hear from you if

  • You are currently pursuing a BSc or MSc in Engineering (Mechanical, Biomedical, Chemical, or Industrial) or Life Sciences (Biotech, Pharmaceutical Sciences)
  • You are proficient in Microsoft Office suite including MS Excel and MS Visio
  • You are familiar with, or interested in, CAD software (e.g. AutoCAD, SolidWorks)
  • You have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively as a member of cross-functional team
  • You have excellent documentation and communication skills, as well as strong attention to detail
  • You are able to learn new technologies and platforms quickly, accurately, and efficiently
  • You are enthusiastic about applying your expertise to biopharmaceutical manufacturing; prior experience in a pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical manufacturing environment would be considered an asset

What we offer

AbCellera’s hiring range for this role is CAD $3,300 - $3,700 per month, commensurate with your education and job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

In addition to base pay, we offer a number of ways to support AbCellerites in maximizing their work-life synergy. You will have a vacation allowance as well as additional days off as part of our company-wide office closures (a real value to all!), and sick leave time while on your internship.

Scientific and technical mentorship is a priority. And you’ll find we prioritize teams and social groups to build community and connections across AbCellera.
