Job description

YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE

Reporting to the Exploration Superintendent and H&S Coordinator Exploration Canada. The Health & Safety Administrator, under the direction of the Exploration Coordinators and H&S Coordinator Exploration Canada, will be responsible for overseeing the health and safety performance and providing support for the Surface Exploration Group at the company's various work sites. This position provides health and safety leadership and coordination to successfully run health and safety management systems. You will be part of the Exploration Department. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.

  • Responsible for ensuring that safety standards are maintained, tracking / investigating accidents and compiling statistics;
  • Responsible for induction, training, and organizing required training to meet the department standards;
  • Design site specific Inductions and writing SOP's and guidelines to carry out specific surface exploration activities, which are primarily drilling related;
  • Observes and instructs on safe work practices and procedures;
  • Ensure the site executes and complies with the elements of the Health and Safety Management programs;
  • Prepare safety related reports;
  • Assist in the planning, development and implementation of specific health and safety programs as directed;
  • Assist with training initiatives as part of the health, safety and wellness of the KL Gold H&S team.
  • Identify, monitoring and correcting health and safety hazards;
  • Provide technical advice and guidance on health and safety issues;
  • Monitor employee adherence to safety regulations and enforce proper health and safety protocols;
  • To improve overall safety conditions by developing strategies to control risk in the workplace.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

  • Minimum High School Diploma;
  • Degree or Diploma in OHS considered a strong asset;
  • CRSP Designation considered an asset;
  • Experience with Surface Exploration activities, in particular surface drilling and cooperation with drill contractors;
  • Must be self-motivated and have the ability to motivate other and initiate change that yields positive results in terms of health and safety;
  • A solid knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations for Mines and Mining Plants is essential;
  • Must have strong computer skills including but not limited to Microsoft Suite of software and EHSsoftware;
  • Must demonstrate leadership skills;
  • Must have strong and effective verbally and written communication skills;
  • Strong interpersonal skills;
  • Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint.
