Project Engineer – Avionics Systems

Our talented Engineering team is looking to add a dynamic, personable, intelligent Project Engineer of Avionic Systems.

In your Role with our Team, you will :

  • Be instrumental on one-of-a-kind projects that range from general aeronautical maintenance and design to complex defense contracts with a highly skilled team.
  • Apply advanced knowledge with respect to solving difficult to complex avionics engineering problems.
  • Interpret client requirements and develop design concepts, and detailed designs to fulfil their needs.
  • Develop detailed designs, including identification of appropriate materials and joint methods as engineering drawings using CAD.
  • Develop engineering drawings and reports to support the substantiation of projects (i.e., system safety assessment, reliability assessment, risk assessment, EWIS analysis, Functional Hazard Assessment, Electrical Load Analysis) for projects ensuring regulatory (including guidance material), customer and company requirements are exceeded.
  • Research regulatory requirements to identify affected areas and consider regulatory requirements accordingly.
  • Liaise with OEMs and Design Approval Representatives regarding modifications from initiation to completion.
  • Manage the design and certification of avionics systems designs undertaken by the company.
  • Mentor and develop engineering team members to meet project goals, integration requirements, and technical activities associated with electrical systems undertaken.
  • Develop qualification test plans, coordinate test personnel, and participate in both ground test and flight test activities.
  • Generate risk assessments, pre-test briefings, test procedures, post-test briefings.
  • Your Background :

    We are interested in hearing from candidates with the following :

  • Bachelor of Engineering from an institution accredited by a provincial or federal engineering licensing organization.
  • Eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.).
  • Transport Canada Aircraft Certification Specialty and Changed Product Rule Specialty Training or equivalent is an asset.
  • Eligibility for Transport Canada Aircraft Certification delegation is an asset.
  • 5 Years of progressive experience and a minimum of 4 years’ experience as a Avionics Systems Engineer.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills matched with hands on approach to solving problems and strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of all relevant codes, and standards such as CAR AWM 525, FAR PART 25
  • Superior analytical, planning and execution capabilities and the ability to develop timely effective solutions.
  • Proven initiative and self-motivation.
  • A positive attitude.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively and within established timelines.
  • Lead by example to maintain high standards of conduct at workplace.
  • Possess cultural awareness and sensitivity skills.
  • Be consistent and fair in decision making process.
  • Commitment to a safety-first culture; and adherence to Transport Canada Regulations, Safe Work Practices and Corporate Policy
  • Must be legally permitted to work in Canada.

  • You will work out of our North Bay head office.
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
