We are seeking applicants that understand the merits of high safety standards, interested in water treatment and distribution operations and have strong interpersonal skills, as well as a strong sense of community to join our Water Services team for an 8-month (September-May) co-op.
Duties and Responsibilities
Working closely with the Utilities Operations Supervisor(s) – Water and shadowing experienced Operators, the job duties are :
- Assist operators to perform preventative maintenance / repairs to all equipment as recommended by the manufacturer, or as needed.
- Assist with collecting and submitting bacteriological / chemical samples as directed by an operator-in-charge.
- Utilize Geospatial equipment to identify and mark location of field assets.
- Assist operators with flushing / repairs and inspections of existing water mains, hydrants, valves, and service as required.
- Assist operators with daily operational duties at various water operations facilities, as directed.
- Assist with maintenance of water operations buildings and grounds as directed by an operator-in-charge.
- Maintains assigned vehicles, tools and all other departmental equipment in good operating condition.
- Additional duties as assigned.
