Just HR is recruiting a Health & Safety Manager for a 12-month, part-time contract (3 days per week) with an energy sector client in the clean energy space. The successful candidate will provide interim oversight of established safety programs across Canadian, U.S., and global operations. The role involves maintaining policies, supporting field teams, driving compliance, and identifying opportunities for improvement. This is a hands-on, high-impact role where you’ll work closely with technical teams in the field while ensuring alignment with local and international health & safety regulations.
Responsibilities :
- Maintain and enhance existing Health & Safety policies and procedures currently managed through a PLM (Policy Lifecycle Management) system
- Oversee and support a functioning Joint Occupational Health & Safety (JOSH) committee
- Manage daily safety operations using SiteApp Pro (HSMS software); familiarity with the platform or similar tools (e.g., SiteDocs, Cority, SafetyCulture) is an asset
- Collaborate with Field Service Engineers and Service / Commissioning Managers to ensure safe operations at project sites
- Monitor use of gas detection equipment and verify consistent reporting and compliance
- Identify training needs based on legislation, company policy, and contract obligations; lead the delivery of practical, engaging safety training for staff and contractors
- Conduct incident investigations, analyze trends, and make recommendations for continuous improvement
- Ensure ongoing compliance with Canadian and U.S. health & safety regulations and industry best practices (WorkSafe, OSHA)
Requirements :
10+ years of Health & Safety experience in construction, biogas, energy, or a related industrial settingProven understanding of OHS regulations in Canada, and the U.S.Experience working with field-based service or commissioning teamsFamiliarity with OGC (BC Oil and Gas Commission) safety standards is a strong assetProficient in using Health & Safety Management Systems (SiteApp Pro or similar)Strong training facilitation skills and the ability to build rapport across technical teamsExcellent judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervisionRemuneration :
