Summary
As a Water Treatment Operator, you will be part of a team that operates the industrial wastewater treatment plant (WTP), a multi‑facility storm water collection system, domestic wastewater treatment plant, potable water filtration and disinfecting plants, and other equipment as required. Your contributions will help ensure the ongoing success of Keno Hill’s ability to operate in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.
About Us
The Keno Hill mine, located within the Keno Hill Silver District in Canada’s Yukon Territory, is one of the highest‑grade silver districts in the world. It is situated 350 kilometres north of Whitehorse and lies within the traditional territory of the First Nation of Na‑Cho Nyak Dun. The mine is owned and operated by Hecla Mining Company, headquartered in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Established in 1891, Hecla has a rich history as a distinguished precious metals producer. Keno Hill is expected to produce 2.7‑3.1 million ounces of silver in 2025 as the mine ramps up production.
Here’s What You Can Expect In This Role
- Use of field instrumentation for daily water readings and navigate online PLC systems to control and operate treatment system.
- Perform laboratory process control work, including water sampling techniques, sample dilutions, laboratory calculations, and operation of AA machines.
- Record treatment plant operational data on daily spreadsheets and prepare day tanks for chemical distribution systems.
- Apply various treatment technologies, such as clarifier theory, coagulation‑flocculation, and breakpoint chlorination.
- Engage in promoting a strong and, teaching environmentally friendly values and safe work practices.
- Work independently or within a team and help foster a supportive environment.
Qualifications
EOCP Small Water System Level 1 certification.Valid Class 5 Driver’s License.High school / GED or equivalent.Knowledge of basic laboratory and computer skills; MS Office proficiency.Loader experience considered an asset.Water / wastewater treatment experience preferred.Mill / underground mining operation experience considered an asset.Ability to lift and carry tools and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.Ability to work independently as well as within a team.

Exposure to outdoor weather conditions, extreme temperatures, hazardous wildlife, mechanical parts, elevated work areas, airborne particles, chemicals, explosives, vibration, electrical shock, and noise.Work Location & Schedule
Fly‑in fly‑out position at a remote mining camp; rotational schedule of 14 days on and 14 days off.Camp accommodations and meals provided.Travel arranged through a designated travel agency from approved flight hubs.Compensation & Benefits
