What you will do

The Service Technician will be responsible for wiring, firing, and testing boilers in the field. This position is responsible for the Startup and Maintenance of the customer equipment.

What you will do

  • Have knowledge of PLC’s, transformers, transmitters, and other controls.
  • Wire all controls and motors for boilers and auxiliary equipment.
  • Familiarity with condensate tanks and deaerators.
  • Read and understand wiring diagrams and schematics.
  • Able to troubleshoot, fire, and set combustion on all types of boilers.
  • Determines valve trim, regulator size and spring, oil gun length and size, and all other parts and accessories needed to fire any boiler.
  • Maintain condition of and inventory of all tools and monitors.
  • Apply intellect, creativity, adaptability, judgment, and management skills to achieve required results.
  • Ensure duties and company projects are accomplished in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
  • Support other technicians and management with internal and external projects.
  • Adhere to company policies.
  • Work both in a team and independent environment

What We Look For

  • Be able to read and work from schematics.
  • Possess knowledge and experience in hot water heating systems and controls.
  • Class A Gas ticket.
  • Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Must have a broad knowledge of boiler controls including Honeywell, Fireye, and Siemens.
  • Mechanical and electrical background is a must.
  • Must have the ability to troubleshoot boilers and auxiliary equipment.
  • Must be able to retrofit control systems in the field.
  • Must have the ability and knowledge to troubleshoot systems with no schematic.
  • Five years’ experience in electrical, control, and boiler field.
  • Backflow testing certificate is an asset.
  • Hourly rate of $46.63, determined by UA Local 170 CBA / rate sheet. Benefits are provided through the union aligned with a collective bargaining agreement. Overscale may be offered to qualified candidates.
