We’re looking for our next Chief Risk Officer. Could It Be You?

The Chief Risk Officer is responsible for leading the design and implementation of the Company’s Risk Management Framework (RMF).

This includes providing oversight and parameters around the various risks including but not limited to credit, liquidity, and other financial risks, and ensuring that these risks are appropriately managed and within the approved company risk appetite.

In this role, responsibilities include but are not limited to :

Leads the development of the CTC RMF and associated risk appetite statements that set an appropriate balance of risk and reward for the Company.

The RMF will establish the model for internal ownership and control of risks, and the delegation of authorities from the CTC Board for acceptance of risks.

Leads the creation, review, and implementation of the company-wide risk and control oversight and reporting processes and ensures adherence to the RMF and risk appetites.

Contributes to the strategic direction of the organization through the development and implementation of Risk Management strategies, policies, and procedures in support of the Company’s goals.

Ensures risk management policies directly reflect and align with the Company’s strategic plans and objectives. This connectivity will become increasingly important as it relates to new products, journeys, and new methods of credit lending.

Establishes strategic and productive interactions with the Chief Credit Officer, Head of Internal Audit, Enterprise Risk Management team, technology team and Enterprise Chief Risk Officer to continually review and refine the Community Trust Risk appetite.

Ensures lines of businesses adequately identify, measure, manage, monitor, and report all key risks including credit, market, liquidity, operational, third party, technology, and reputational risks.

Identifies and manages emerging risks that may have an adverse impact on the Company’s ability to achieve its strategic goals and business plans.

Provides risk reporting and updates to the CTC Board, CTC Executive and to the QFG Risk Management group. · Reports and escalates matters wherein activities do not align with or adhere to the Board-approved risk appetite.

Leads and participates in key risk management committees, including the Enterprise Risk Management Committee (ERMC), the Asset Liability Committee (ALCO), etc.

Maintains strong relationships with key independent oversight partners (e.g., Compliance and CAMLO, Internal Audit, Finance and QFG Risk Management).

Acts as the Company’s primary point of contact and Centre of Excellence relative to OSFI’s supervision of the Company, by responding to ongoing inquiries from OSFI, participating in supervisory reviews and other ongoing monitoring meetings, reviewing, and managing the status of remediation plans for OSFI recommendations.

Leads and manages the Risk Management team effectively, including talent management, performance management, employee engagement and succession planning.

Have senior level risk management experience within an OSFI regulated financial institution, or in an advisory / consulting practice for such an organization.

Have strong knowledge of credit, market, liquidity, operational (with an emphasis on thirdparty risk management) frameworks and sound practices.

Have strong knowledge of OSFI regulations and risk management principles and practices. Proven track record of successful relationships with financial industry regulators;

OSFI, in particular, is strongly preferred.

Have experience working with an independent Board and Board Committees.

Have demonstrated ability to use knowledge of internal and external influences to ensure robust risk management in a responsive and agile environment.

Are a strong leader with a proven track record of successfully leading teams.
