Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Financial Controller plays a key role in the performance and optimization of financial operations. Acting as a bridge between current and future systems, the Financial Controller actively contributes to continuous improvement, the reliability of financial information, and the implementation of effective processes.
He/she oversees the entire financial reporting cycle, supports digital transformation, and ensures the deployment of rigorous controls and practices within the organization.
Main Responsibilities
- Oversee the monthly closing process: analyses, adjusting entries, consolidated financial statements, and budget variances.
- Supervise the chief accountant’s work in reconciling financial data.
- Oversee the billing team and optimize existing processes.
- Manage fixed assets, intangible assets, and records related to leases and long-term commitments.
- Ensure Canadian and US tax compliance (sales taxes) and maintain the tools necessary for their management.
- Prepare and deliver training on new procedures to internal teams.
- Act as a resource person during external audits and the preparation of tax returns.
Required Profile
- CPA designation (CPA or CPA auditor).
- 5 to 7 years of experience in senior financial positions.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in a firm (auditor) — an asset.
- Excellent knowledge of IFRS, NCECF, and US GAAP standards.
- Working knowledge of an ERP (Oracle, SAP, Dynamics 365).
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
