YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES AS HEALTH & SAFETY MANAGER :
Create, implement and maintain safety policies and procedures that comply with Manitoba regulations and internal corporate standards across all business unitsCollaborate with safety representatives within each business unit to address safety issues, give guidance through regular meetings and promote open communication to ensure accountabilityOversee the First Aid Program, ensuring compliance and readiness. Provide training and support to first aid teamsInvestigate safety incidents, recommend corrective actions, and track improvements. Report critical incidents to the Director of SafetyAssist in internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with safety standards. Conduct regular reviews to ensure ongoing complianceProvide guidance to business unit safety representatives to take ownership of initiatives, acting as a mentor to foster growth and developmentEnsure safety best practices align with company goals and identify opportunities for continuous improvement to enhance the safety programManage and support multiple business units within the safety portfolio, making a tangible impact on the safety culture and delivering on mitigating riskWHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR IN A HEALTH & SAFETY MANAGER :
Post Secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety or related field. Professional designation (e.g., CRSP, CHSC) would be of benefit, but not required.5+ years of progressive health and safety experience in the manufacturing sector. Experience leading a team would be considered an asset.Proven experience in leading policy development or revision, delivering training, and conducting incident investigationsEffective communication, collaboration and problem solving skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities while ensuring accountability with meeting objectives
