Seymour Pacific Developments is seeking a detail oriented Senior Estimator to join our Team. The Senior Estimator will manage the cost estimation process for our upcoming wood frame multi-family residential projects throughout Western and Central Canada. This role involves managing relationships with various departments and internal stakeholders, collaborating closely with our Development, Design, Construction Management and Civil departments. The Senior Estimator will identify and quantify potential cost uncertainties to ensure that the final budget reflects both the expected costs and potential risks.
A successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring that our projects are planned and executed efficiently, within budget and to Seymour Pacific Development’s standards of quality. This position will be located in Campbell River - British Columbia or Winnipeg - Manitoba.
Your contributions to the team :
- Review documents and design blueprints to understand project requirements
- Conduct thorough material take-offs and labour estimates
- Prepare detailed cost estimates by analyzing all project costs, including materials, labour and project duration
- Present estimates to Cost and Project Control Manager to finalize estimate for executive approval
- Document and maintain accurate records of cost estimates and other relevant documents to support project accounting and financial reporting
- Prepare material estimates for internal departments to use for project tenders, collaborating with Construction Management, Contracts, Purchasing and Civil
- Update and manage estimate database and software
- Work with internal stakeholders to track changes in plans or construction and update budgets
- Participate with others in project bids and proposals
- Ensure compliance with company standards and procedures in all estimates and bids
- Keep up with industry trends and new materials in known and new markets to ensure the company maintains competitive pricing
- Mentor and assist in training estimators, sharing experience and knowledge to help improve the overall estimating capabilities of the team
- Some consultation with vendors and contractors may be required
What you need to be successful :
Post-secondary diploma in Construction Management, Accounting or related field5 years proven experience as a Senior EstimatorAdvanced skills in MS Office Suite and database systemsWorking knowledge of contract language and legal requirements of contractsKnowledge of estimating techniques, cost control and material pricingDetailed knowledge of construction industry, understanding of construction methodologies, and awareness of current labour, material and equipment costsProficient in estimating software and technology to provide accurate and efficient project cost estimatesStrong analytical and thinking skills to evaluate project specifications and blueprints, assess cost effectiveness, and help determine project feasibilityExcellent organizational and multi-tasking abilities to manage multiple projects and deadlines at the same timeExperience with estimating wood frame construction of multi family residential, with civil experience as an assetPrevious on-site construction experience with wood frame constructionStrong understanding of research methodology, data analysis and estimation metricsExcellent numerical skills and analytical mindsetStrong communication and negotiation skillsSome travel may be required to meet with external stakeholders and project locationsThe Perks :
