Position Summary

The Sr. ROV Technician will be responsible for operating Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROV) systems in a safe and effective manner, while maintaining and repairing all associated systems and sub-systems including component replacement and troubleshooting.

LOCATION :

Requires daily onsite attendance; this is not a remote-work position.

DURATION AND STATUS :

This is a permanent assignment.

Duties & Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL :

  • Operate in accordance with the Company's Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (QHSE) policies, procedures, and objectives.
  • Operate Launch and Recovery System (LARS) equipment, Vehicle and Tether Management System (TMS) functions, including cameras, acoustic positioning systems, sonar, and manipulators.
  • Co-pilot or pilot the Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV), including evaluating environmental conditions and hazards, docking / undocking from TMS, and navigating the ROV using acoustics, sonar, and visual (video) systems.
  • Operate sub-sea navigational equipment, including but not limited to magnetic compass, gyro, transducer, sonar, altimeter, and associated positioning equipment.
  • Integrate and operate ancillary tooling, including but not limited to injection and intervention skids, remote control units, and smart torque tools.
  • Use calibrated test equipment to perform maintenance and repairs on electrical, electronic, hydraulic, mechanical, and termination fiber-optic equipment, assemblies, and subassemblies.
  • Perform general housekeeping and fabric maintenance.
  • Establish and maintain ROV system inventory.
  • Work with electrical power circuit equipment, including transformers, phase, current, and voltage monitoring, ground fault protection circuits, and sub-sea motors.
  • Work with hydraulic power equipment, including pumps, motors, and cylinders.
  • Work with video and data distribution equipment, including coaxial cables, video monitors, video converters, video switchers, network modems, line drivers, serial ports, parallel ports, and fiber-optic multiplexers.

Qualifications

REQUIRED :

  • 5+ years experience as an ROV Technician / equivalent competency.
  • Highschool Diploma.
  • Twelve months of electronic, electrical, hydraulic, or mechanical experience, training, or education (or combination of).
  • PREFERRED :

  • Engineering Technologist Diploma Programs; Computer, Electronic, Electrical, Instrumentation or Mechanical.
  • Valid CAPP compliant offshore training Basic Survival Training, WHMIS, H2S Alive, Fall Protection and First Aid training.
  • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS :
